Newsletter online!

Read the Footprint Trust's current newsletter online!  We aim to produce a newsletter each quarter, covering everything that we do as well as a lot more - such as environmental book reviews, a regular 'green tip', information on local projects that need extra help and loads more!  If you would like to receive a paper copy, please phone or e mail your details to us (number below) or alternatively, you can read it all on this website.

Water Works

Local educational charity the Footprint Trust launched an initiative entitled Water Works in 2006, which is working with the Isle of Wight’s community to promote the benefits of sustainable living. The IW AONB Sustainable Development Fund has supported the project, along with EU, Leader+, the Ernest Cook Trust and Southern Water.

The aims of the project will be achieved by raising awareness of the need to use water resources more efficiently. The project has become all the more relevant as water shortages throughout south east England led to a house pipe ban and other water conservation measures.

Hall Eco-Audits

If you are a user, a manager or someone with any other interest in a community building, why don't you do the smart thing and have a free environmental audit carried out?!  This audit looks at ways in which the users can save energy and so money.  Community halls, schools and the like are by their nature run on very limited budgets, so why not try and save a bit of money on your gas, water and electricity bill?  These are completely free of charge, so you really have nothing to lose!  Phone us for more details.

Green Gym News

The Green Gym still needs your help!  Whatever your background, ability, skills, knowledge, interest or workload, I'm sure you can offer something to our group.  You don't need to come along every week, there are no fees to pay, there is no joining fee or even a 'sub' for refreshments!

After the Green Gym at Fort Victoria, we went along the beach to look for fossils.  Thanks to Richard, one of the IW Countryside Section Rangers, we identified all sorts of old bone and turtle shell several million years old!

Take me to Green Gym!

Tool Shed

Thanks to Awards for All, the Footprint Trust has been able to develop it's tool store, so now any community groups can have the use of several tools, slashers, forks, shovels, bowsaws, loppers and loads more.  To find out more, click here.

Raising Money

We have been trying to think up new and innovative ways to raise some money to help us run the Footprint Trust with maximum efficiency and without upsetting any funders.  So, we have come up with 3 easy ways!  The first, you could hand us a load of cash (if you do, remember to sign the Gift Aid statement so we can get an extra 28p per £1 from the Government).  The second, you can join Wisdom for All, which is basically an internet search engine (click here for more details).  Or thirdly, on the bottom of most pages on our site, you'll notice that there are 'Google boxes' - these pay us a fraction of a penny for each search and click you undertake so now there is no need to leave our site!  Easy as 1, 2, 3 ...!
